David Bannon
Chief Executive Officer
As co-member of the founding team, David's vision and leadership have been critical to the establishment of Headwall Photonics as a leading technology supplier of wavelength solutions for customers in the life sciences, analytical, and telecommunications markets.
With 20 years of sales, marketing, and finance experience within technology-driven markets, David brings proven expertise in building customer-centric organizations for innovative technology companies. He has an established track record for formulating business strategy, building market share, and driving revenue through the successful engagement of customers and strategic partners.
Most recently, David served as Vice President - Sales at Allegro Networks and formerly served in key executive positions at Packet Engines (acquired by Alcatel), Wellfleet/Bay Networks (acquired by Nortel), and Digital Equipment Corporation (acquired by Compaq). He received his BS in Biology from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA in Finance from Northeastern University.
Larry Barstow
President, Chief Operating Officer
Larry Barstow has served as president and chief executive officer of Headwall Photonics since the company's founding. As co-member of the founding team of Headwall, Larry's vision and leadership have proven critical to the successful emergence of Headwall as the world's leading manufacturer of holographic diffraction technology. His role consists of the establishment of Headwall's corporate vision, building the industry's strongest team, and functional oversight of the company.
Prior to the management buy-out from Agilent Technologies, Larry was General Manager of the Agilent Holographic Grating Operation. In this capacity, he had operational responsibility for engineering, manufacturing operations, and customer interface. Larry has over 20 years experience (16 years with Hewlett Packard / Agilent Technologies) as an executive in high volume design and manufacturing operations for products in the life sciences/medical and telecommunications industries.
Larry received a master's degree in engineering from MIT and a bachelor's degree in engineering from Cornell University
Richard Driver
Director of Engineering
Richard Driver is Headwall's Director of Engineering and Development. He brings thirty years of engineering and applications expertise in the development and introduction of spectral instrumentation and related technologies. His senior management experience spans industrial as well as medical instrumentation applications and includes system-level instrument design, opto-mechanical and fiber optic design, development of in-situ sampling probes, and digital electronics design.
Before joining Headwall, Richard was Senior Director of Engineering at Primera Biosystems, a manufacturer of gene assay instrumentation where he was responsible for the product development and engineering efforts. Prior to that, Richard held positions at Clinical Data where he was the Director, New Product Development and also managed Process Instrumentation Development.
An author of many books, papers, and patents, Richard holds a Ph.D in Physics from Imperial College, University of London.
Jay Zakrzewski
Director of Business Development
Jay Zakrzewski serves as Headwall's Director of Business Development and is responsible for product management as well as the recruitment and product training of Headwall's reseller partners and OEM integrators. Jay's experience provides a proven track record for the introduction of mission-critical electro-optical and opto-mechanical technology into a broad range of applications and industries including analytical markets, medical and biotech applications, and the telecommunications industry.
Prior to joining Headwall, Jay served as Director of Business Development and Product Manager of Optics and Instrumentation at Acton Research Corporation where he developed strategic business plans for spectroscopy products as well as the optical coating business line. Before this position, Jay worked for Corning NetOptix as sales manager and as business unit manager.
With a degree in business administration, Jay has written and published many articles on photonics and spectroscopy including the recently published article in BioOptics World entitled "Dispersive Imaging Enhances Robotic Pediatric Surgery".
