Recording of CHRSE webinar: Vegetation Encroachment on Infrastructure

Watch a recording of the first webinar by the newly formed Center for Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Europe. Headwall and geo-konzept in Germany teamed to show how unmanned airborne vehicles carrying a hyperspectral & LiDAR payload can detect vegetation encroachment on infrastructure. This project was done in just a few days in order to deliver a talk at DJI AirWorks this year. Afterwards with more opportunity to analyze and visualize the data taken by Christoph Schimmer of geo-konzept during a flight over a DB Fahrwegdienste railway, more material was created by the author, Dr. Carson Roberts of Headwall. Hyperspec III incremental release, version 3.1.4

Headwall today released the latest version, 3.1.4, of its powerful HyperSpec® III software program which ships with hyperspectral imaging systems for acquisition, display, and generating datacubes. Airborne systems benefit from GPS data integration and orthorectification. The new version adds the option to add GPS time to point clouds generated by LiDAR Tools, geoid offset functionality to AgView, improvements to the user interface and workflow, and other improvements. Happy Anniversary Claire!

"Claire" is the nickname of a mini-satellite officially named GHGSat-D that launched in June of 2016 and shortly thereafter began delivering images using its Headwall hyperspectral SWIR sensor. Claire's mission is to help industries better understand their greenhouse gas emissions, enabling them to control and ultimately reduce them. For example, Claire can help coal mine and landfill operators find significant leaks of methane, then measure those leaks to justify a business case for gas-fired electricity generation.

Giving back to our community

As part of the Bolton and Fitchburg communities, we feel that it is our responsibility to be a part of the towns in which we live and work. One of our initiatives is the production and donation of hygiene kits for those less fortunate than we are. One hundred of these kits were recently created at our facility by employee volunteers and given to Our Father's Housea private, non-sectarian agency providing shelter and related services to homeless men, women and children.

Headwall customer Associate Professor Felipe Gonzalez, at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Institute for Future Environments and the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision is using Headwall hyperspectral imaging from airborne UAVs to monitor and analyze the health of the Great Barrier Reef has received part of the $50 million AI for Earth program by Microsoft.
