The Position

The Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager will drive company initiatives to improve operational efficiencies as well as ensure preparedness for external quality audits for both our Bolton and Fitchburg sites. This position requires a high energy positive attitude with the capability and desire to be continuously engaged with the Team to drive projects to completion.

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing & Operations, the Quality and CI Manager also acts as a liaison between Company and our Suppliers while engaging Customers for feedback and improvement. The Quality Manager will select and drive high impact improvements, be responsible for departmental processes/procedures, and be involved with technical communications with the customer.

With a focus on quality and continuous improvement, the Quality Manager is accountable for timely and detailed oriented results. The impact of the projects will all make a positive contribution to lean manufacturing improvements and process efficiencies to improve operational profitability.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create a lean culture by mentoring and creating training opportunities.
  • Internal quality system audit and remediation skills
  • Collecting production data, analyzing outputs, and determining corrective courses of action to promote safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Identify ways to eliminate waste in production processes.
  • Analyze and identify opportunities to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities and optimize process performance.
  • Work with management to identify new process improvement opportunities in the areas of quality, cost, performance, and preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • In-depth experience implementing Lean, 5S, Value Stream Map and Kaizen
  • Review and update business procedures and documents.
  • Must have experience working in a regulated industry (ISO 17025, ISO 9001 or other)
  • Quality System knowledge with ability to rapidly identify and resolve system gaps.
  • Independently facilitate CAR, CAPA or Non-conformances Root Cause analysis [RCA].
  • Evidence of effectively creating Prepared Quality System documents nd records.
  • Ability to gather and quantify quality metrics and management presentation material.
  • Support the Quality function and the business by maintaining professional business ethics and ensuring customers are treated with efficiency, courtesy, and respect.

Educational & Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other related technical discipline
  • Green Belt Certification required; Black Belt preferred.
  • An outgoing detail-oriented person with superior communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong computer desktop tool proficiency & other manufacturing software (MS-Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Routinely working in cross functional teams and influencing peers on project tasks.
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines & work objectives.
  • Effective quantitative ability, exceptional organizational (records) talent and analytical skills.
Experience Required
  • 5-7 years: industry related experience within the optics industry and/or analytical instruments

Job Description:

The selected candidate for this position will join the software development team which is advancing the field of hyperspectral imaging by providing easy-to-use data collection, image processing, sensor fusion, and machine learning tools to our customers. The successful candidate will have significant opportunities for career growth in the development of scientific and mathematical software applications and algorithms. This includes video processing, image manipulation, machine vision, and data visualization.

This role will have responsibilities in new product development and sustaining of existing products. The candidate will be responsible for the specification, design, development, and documentation of code. Our codebase is written in C++ and an eligible candidate should be proficient in this language. Knowledge of the QT framework is a plus but can also be learned on the job. Knowledge of other machine vision toolkits and libraries (such as OpenCV) is also a plus.

Additionally, the candidate may be called upon to use their capabilities to support automated build process and testing.

Required Skills & Education:

Required education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, equivalent technical field, or practical experience. At least 3+ years of experience.

  • Proven experience in the design and development of software solutions to complex problems
  • Object Oriented Programming in C++
  • Knowledge of user interface design and implementation
  • Experience with multi-threaded / multi-process applications in Windows and/or Linux OS
  • Knowledge of linear algebra and numerical methods

Other Valuable Skills / Experience:

  • Knowledge of QT and QWT frameworks
  • Experience working with imaging, cameras, or similar real-time sensors
  • Experience working with hardware calibration, test, and automation
  • Knowledge of SQL databases
  • Experience with machine learning or image processing libraries (such as OpenCV)
  • Experience with image or spectroscopic algorithms
  • Experience with git version control system and Atlassian tools
  • Experience with automated build and test

Headwall continually seeks highly motivated, successful Regional Sales Managers based on the Company's geographically-aligned territories.

These are high profile, key contributors to the achievement of company revenue goals across a broad set of industries and a diverse customer base. Specific account responsibilities include academic, bio-pharma and industry accounts in the assigned geographical region.

As a member of the sales team, you will be responsible for driving revenue across key markets and application areas for Headwall’s hyperspectraland spectral imaging solutions. Sales activities will focus on outbound face-to-face interaction with key prospects to qualify, cultivate and close new business.  Limited channel management where appropriate. 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable and quantifiable track record of successful sales achievement

  • Ability to develop successful sales strategies to penetrate accounts

  • Exceptional sales qualification skills

  • Competitive, self-starter who enjoys working in a fast paced, technology growth environment

  • In-depth technical knowledge of spectroscopy (spectral sensors and analytical instruments) and/or imaging technologies

  • Outstanding telephone and interpersonal communication skills

  • Team player with a flexible and open communication style

  • Sales CRM experience necessary – Funnel management 100% in online tools

  • Expected travel 50%

 Education and Background:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced technical degree

  • Minimum of 5 years scientific sales experience

  • Location preference is within assigned territory and close proximity to major airport; focus on the US Northeast and Southeast
