Fitchburg, MA; May 12, 2011 - Headwall Photonics, a leading designer and manufacturer of spectral imaging sensor solutions, announced the introduction of the Hyperspec® UV imaging spectrometer which provides high performance hyperspectral imaging for the spectral region of 250 to 550 nm.

The Hyperspec UV® sensor is based on Headwall's patented, aberration-corrected concentric design which enables the instrument to provide the highest spectral and spatial resolution available in the industry. The Hyperspec UV® is a fully integrated sensor instrument configured with components designed to achieve high performance imaging in the UV spectral region.

The Hyperspec® family of imagers are all designed for imaging in harsh environments — from airborne deployments to in-line process analysis and monitoring. The Hyperspec® UV sensor is used for a wide range of applications including remote sensing and military/defense deployment, as well as medical applications involving fluorescence and bio-imaging. The Hyperspec® sensor identifies objects based on the sample's unique spectral signature and chemical composition, i.e., the chemical fingerprint of the objects within the field of view.

In order to maintain imaging performance, the Hyperspec® sensors utilize an aberrationcorrected, concentric design with a tall image slit allowing for a very wide field of view. Featuring high signal-to-noise and extremely low stray light, Headwall's sensor systems avoid the use of transmissive optics such as prisms that degrade performance and contribute to thermal instability.

Extended VNIR 550 - 1700 nmn
NIR 900 - 1700 nm
SWIR 900 - 2500 nm
