Hyperspec® MV.X Unveiled at Photonics West 2020 in San Francisco

Headwall introduces embedded vision hyperspectral MV.X VNIR camera at SPIE Photonics West

Headwall shows off our new, embedded-vision hyperspectral camera in addition to our award-winning OEM components, sensors, and systems.

Booth 5552 at SPIE’s Photonics West from February 4 to 6 was packed with people watching a compact blue-and-black camera positioned above a small conveyor belt with rice and other materials running across a line of light. Immediately after the items passed under the new Headwall MV.X, pseudocolor classified images flowed across an adjacent color screen. All of the processing to take the acquired hyperspectral data was accomplished inside the camera itself in the blink of an eye!

No regular “machine vision” camera, the MV.X can be trained and the “classifier” algorithm stored and run from inside the head of the camera itself. The MV.X is part of our effort to bring the spectral dimension to online inspection and grading where other offerings are still trying to hurdle barriers such as intuitive operation, efficient classification, cumbersome hardware integration, and high cost that doesn’t necessarily scale with wider deployment. The MV.X addresses these and more.
